Mexican Silver Bracelet by Rafael Melendez
Materials: high-grade 980 silver
Size: 7-1/4” long x 7/8” wide
Rafael Melendez worked for William Spratling from 1932-1939 when he left to start his own taller (studio), the "Plateria Melendez". Judging by the quality of this outstanding bracelet he learned a great deal from his many years working for Spratling. He also borrowed from Spratling in the design of his hallmark: looked at upside down Melendez'; mark looks like the early conjoined "WS"; Spratling mark but is actually a conjoined "RM"; for Rafael Melendez. The bracelet has the old-style clasp of a hinge with a removeable pin.
